About Us

The Cambridge Citizen Website is a place for the citizens of our great city to discuss all aspects of life here. The people, places and particularly the politics are all food for fodder here.

It was started by life-long Cambridge residents James Hillis and Scot Ferguson-Barber in response to the need in the community for a place to discuss all sides of local issues.

Jim studied Broadcast Journalism at Consestoga College in 1978. He is one of the best known online writers in the city, but had never been published until this May.

Scot has written for The Record, Cambridge Times, Cambridge Reporter and many others, was the recipient of The Bernice Adams Award for Literary Art in 2011, but it his love of sociology that motivates him. He is convinced that The Citizen can be a vehicle for change in the community.

We also publish The Cambridge Citizen Magazine, which is currently being printed quarterly, one per season, and highlights some of the great stories that you will find here, and gives new writers a place to get published. (The fall issue should be out next week)

Also in the works are live broadcasts of local events, and an internet radio station.
