As a local writer who is recognized in the community I often have people coming up to me with story ideas and suggestions about topics we should cover here in The Citizen.  More often than not, I hear complaints about local politicians.

I frequently hear “You should write this or that about Doug/Rob/Gary.”

When I ask who they voted for last election the reply is often “I didn’t vote. They are all the same.”

This complacent attitude is reflected in low turnout at the polls. A lot of people couldn’t be bothered to vote, but they don’t hesitate to bitch about who is elected.

We have two elections in Cambridge this year, a provincial this month and a municipal in October.  If you want to make a difference take the time to cast a ballot. Your vote matters.

If you don’t vote I don’t want to hear you bitching.

The big 3 parties are not all the same. Each of them try to appeal to didderent segments of society.
They all have one thing in common. They need YOUR money to buy the votes of a large number of those with whom you disagree.
So, in a sense, they are all the same. They ALL mortgage the future in an attempt to satisfy the needs – and all too often the WANTS of their constituents.
Unless things are somehow reversed, we are headed toward certain economic devastation starting with Ontario’s Liberal government.
These boneheads have come to realize many Ontarians don’t have enough with which to retire. Their solution?
Tax you even more to set up an Ontario Pension Plan. Of course thev Liberals will administer the plan, borrowing from it to continue their spending spree.
Anyone who believes the answer to the problems created by big government is – more big government, they are not facing reality.
