Just one more reason to oust the Liberal government on Oct 6.
It never stops. Soon you are going to have to pay for the privilege of having it forced on you, plus, you guessed it, you are going to have to pay HST on the extra fee. But not until next year – not something you are suppose to know about before an election.
At least the smart meters were made in Ontario right? Nope made in Korea.
Korea IT Times.
http://koreaittimes.com/story/15485/smart-meter-shipments-totaled-174-million-units-worldwide-during-1st-quarter-2011
Buried on a footnote on page 1-102, of volume 2a of the 2010 Ontario Public Accounts is a revelation that Dalton McGuinty’s Minister of Energy quietly approved a request from the Independent Electricity Systems Operator to apply to the Ontario Energy Board for a new tax called Smart Meter Service Fees.
Page 13 of the Independent Electricity System Operator’s 2011-2013 Business Plan underline;”>confirms that the Dalton McGuinty Liberals are already budgeting to collect $33 million per year in Smart Meter Service Fees beginning in 2012. Over the next four years, this would cost Ontario families $132 million to run the smart meter super computer. This new Smart Meter Tax will be applied to smart meter hydro bills above and beyond the higher costs of ‘time of use pricing’. Already under Dalton McGuinty, hydro rates have gone up 84 percent and 150 percent for homes with a smart meter, not to mention the $1 billion ($200 per household) price tag that came with installing smart meters.

Today Tim Hudak issued a challenge for Ontario Liberals to identify one idea for cutting waste.
Here’s one: Lower the cost of prescription generic drugs.
Ontario Liberals took on the big pharmacies to lower the cost of prescription generic drugs. It’s saving $500 million every year that’s being invested in front-line health care.
Tim Hudak voted against it. He thought the money should go to boost profit margins.
Tim Hudak also happens to own shares in Shoppers Drug Mart. His Members’ Public Disclosure lists shares in Shoppers Drug Mart as one of his assets. But he never once disclosed this conflict to the Legislature.
Ontario Liberals will continue to put the interest of seniors, families and taxpayers first.
Tim Hudak… well, he’s only in it for himself
I guess there was no denial from Rory on the Smart meter tax.
Anytime someone reveals this tax (along with the carbon tax), the liberals go into attack mode, hoping that no one remebers what the question was.
Have some fun and go to this NON PARTISAN website
http://www.noliberals.ca/
We are discussing the actual track record of what has happened over the past 8 years.
Rory, you know the problem with big government – all 3 major parties – is that everytime they find a way to save money, they will find another way to spend it.
So, even if your buddy Mr. McGuinty saved us a half billion dollars on the cost of generic drugs, and even if he re-invested that in something as important as front-line healthcare: in the end, he didn’t lower taxes, deficits or debts in doing so.
Dalton McGuinty is not the answer in our very troubled province.
We need a mathematician to lead us – not a lawyer.
Listen, all taxes have to be sneaky because if a politician says “yes I am going to raise your taxes” everyone would attack him/her and they would never be elected, plain and simple facts people. Every party say’s it and every party will find a way to raise your taxes.
This stinks of Agenda 21. This is the tightening of the noose by the Crown corporation. This is happening all over the western world and it goes to prove that our elected officials are veted puppets for the new world order. I hope all you nay sayers enjoy paying your carbon taxes. This is just the tip toe towards the implementation of Agenda 21 and the theft of all of our natural wealth. This has nothing to do with the environment. If they were truely concerned about the environment then they would put an end to fracking which is destroying the water table or deliberately destroying the atmosphere with chem trails. The line must be drawn here; we must refuse the smart meter tax and the carbon tax. We must respond with noncompliance because the brave new world that is planned for us is no place I want to live in.
Chris, the Bilderbergs are meeting soon in Virginia.Which of our illustrious leaders will make an appearance this year?
Look! There is no grand conspiracy in government that is not of our own making.
We continue to elect bankers, lawyers, and professors from every party spectrum, and these people don’t have the capacity to understand your difficulties. They never will. My friends! They only know their own.
And you have the audacity to proclaim; you can’t believe the stupid waste in government or the backdoor shenanigans of corporately connected politicians!?
You elected these ‘tools’! You nominated ignorance and greed to represent your party.
If you asked me ‘who I vote for?’, I’d have to say I have not voted since I left the Armed Forces in 2002. My logic; I have seen no such politician that could ever represent my community, and social class with any sincerity or compassion.
You vote NDP, for what? Higher taxes and more bureaucracy? They’re mostly lawyers who lie and bend the law to their own advantage. Teachers? Who are so entrenched inside of their union mentality, all they want to do is cause trouble.
Or you vote PC, for what? Because they don’t like abortion or gay marriage? These people are bankers, political theorists, and doctors, whom are not so godly when it comes to compassion for the lower class, or investing your tax dollars to support their own personal interests.
Because we all no this community never votes liberal. I swear it’s as if the purposely nominate people with no inclination or chance.
McGuinty is a master at his trade. Very few like him. His problem is who he has around him. That’s it. The charisma of leadership can only take you so far. He/she must surround their caucus with those who will hold them to their word.
Take a look at the 2003 Provincial election results. The Liberal candidate received more votes that any other Liberal candidate before or the two election following 2003. In fact his vote count of 16559 [PC Candidate won with 15941] would have WON the last election in 2011. The candidate was not a banker, lawyer or professor but a construction trades person. Go figure!

Thank you for attempting to reiterate my point, but you need to get your facts straight….
In the 2003 election Gerry Martinuk, a close family friend and one of the most contributing members of our community, was elected with over 19000 votes; defeating the so called ‘every guy’ for the second time. The first in 1999, he crushed Boyle 24000 to 10000.
And to be even more blunt, you are looking at the wrong column on the wikipedia Page; percentage…
Boyle never exceeded 35% of the popular vote, which would have put him a close second to Leone’s 37%.
Boyle would have lost again!
Ask McGarry, who tried twice and lost recently to a guy who lived in Kitchener and worked in Brantford, who didn’t debate, who didn’t so much as put up a sign or make a public appearance until a week before the election.
No, the real story in the 2011 election was Ms. Atinuke Bankole. Though she was riding some of the wind of the late Jack Layton astonishing campaign success, Atinuke campaigned her heart out. She has an engaging personality and an infectious smile. It must be said she improved the NDP percentage from a mere 14% in ’07 to 24% in 2011. She was authentic.
But Cambridge will never elect an NDP, we got screwed by Bob Rae’s, our municipality in particular. And it will show in the next federal election if he is appointed ‘don of dons’ in the Liberal caucus.
I always believe somebody dives into politics with noblest of intentions, but somewhere along the way we have forgotten to elect proper representation. I have nothing personal against the higher professions, they are the ones who should be giving us options, but never the ones who should be selling policy.
You don’t give the field to the wolves, and just hope that prayer will protect the sheep.
We need a legitimate contenders; somebody young enough to be ‘in touch’, somebody street hardened enough to never complicate their time with falsehoods or games, somebody from the blue collar workforce, somebody who knows what it means to have served their nation, somebody with the strength to go against their own party if by doing so it will protect even one of their constituents, somebody with a recognized name, and with deep ties to the small and large business community. Somebody compassionate enough to make decisions based on logic and not perceived public opinion…….. It would also help if they were connected to leaders with a national voice, let’s say, a Trudeau….
No, it’s the responsibility of the party’s to begin vetting real talent, real contenders, and authenticity. Because if they don’t, it won’t matter what party gets elected, Cambridge will continue to have a muted voice in every branch of government.
I am not sure about your comment Re “get my facts straight” The number of votes I quoted was from Elections Ontario not Wikipedia. I did not reference any percentages, I just carried the number of votes from the 2003 election into the statistics of the 2011 election for a comparison. [There was a drop of 6% voter turnout in 2011]
Using you comment on the real story of the 2011 election and the increase in percentage vote for the NDP by 10%. I look at the the 1999 election where you are correct with the margin of victory but in the 2003 election Boyle increased the liberal percentage by 13% when he garnered the 16559 votes.
I 100% agree with you final comment Re vetting of talent.

just wait and see. If there is no conspirancy than answer me this. Why is the same legislation being implemented almost simulteanously in nearly every western country? Why is it that no matter who gets in office it is a continuation of the same agenda? The harmonized sales tax would have still been implimented if the conservatives would have gotten in. Partisian politics is a smoke screen to make the people think that they have a choice. The truth is our leaders are selected not elected. They are groomed and vetted long before they take public office. Prime example are carbon taxes and smart meter debates; they are being pushed in the U.S.; the U.K., Australia and all over Europe. I highly doubt that any of that was of our own making; it is an agreement by unelected bodies and think tanks who have sway over governements.
Google ” Alex ” in the US to confirm the conspiracy theory which is really not a conspiracy at all. It’s business. It has and always will run both politics and the rest of the country/world. As without business, we don’t eat, drive or live.
The problem is as you will see once you pull up Alex is that government, who we supposedly elect to represent our needs ( gag ) simply take the legislation that has been written ( called proposed ) for them by such groups and implements it. Why ? Votes ! Who provides the money for our elected officials to run and win. Simply check the donations records of our councillors and compare them to the projects approved by and for whom. Take this up 1 million notches now to the Prov, Fed and god help us the US system and there are all the answers you need to know.
Money talks while public silence promotes opression.
One simpl move which I have written to anyone who reads.
Take the tax off of our taxes,,, HST on all the other taxes at the pump for example. Such a reduction in tax on fuel prices would put money back into the pockets of consumers as well as show that a government has ethics for doing the right thing.
As stated above however, when any government takes a buck in tax out of the system two or more get put back in.
We get what we allow and who we vote for.
Look at the water billing issue right here in Cambridge as well as in the rest of Ontario. Landlords now have to pay for the bills of tennants who signed a contract to pay but decide not to. This is for sure illegal. In other cities, landlords are being tagged with Dog License bills, Hydro bills as well when the tennant’s don’t pay the city.
I am waiting for the first court challenge if provincial legislation is not changed come fall.
A classic case of those in office having no clue as to the long term effects of a law they have just passed and half of them are lawyers who really know better.
