Don’t get me wrong; the following article is an indictment against the Fourth Estate. The so called “free press” instead of doing its job; now serves as the gate keepers who’s prime directive seems to be to decieve, obfuscate and manipulate the general public. This is nothing new; I suspect this has been going on since the empires of the newspaper barons Hearst and Pulitzer. Harmonization breeds censorship and any kind of centralization manifests deceit. Mainstream media today is composed of an oligopoly of mega corporations who own the majority of major media outlets. In Canada Bell, Rogers, Shaw Media, Astral Media, Quebecor and the government owned Canadian Broadcasting Corporation own the lot. In the U.S. Viacom, Time Warner, Disney, News Corporation (Fox) and General Electric control the supposed watch dogs of the public trust. The problem with having your information diseminated by a hand full of elites is that you are not only feed the narrow viewpoint of a small minority but also the viewpoint of those who control the levers of power. An informed public is a threat to that structure. So to keep themselves in power they need to spread disinformation and keep the population dumbed down.
The April 3rd edition of the Ottawa Citizen announced that our government will be sending one million on top of the seven point million they sent a month ago to the rebels in Syria. What you are not told is that these “protestors” are actually Al Qeada and Muslim Brotherhood insurgents who act as the pitbulls of NATO. They are following the same script that has already been played out in Egypt and Libya. Whether or not you like Bashar Al-assad, (I personally think he is another ruthless, tin plated dictator); he is the legitimate leader of the country. Foriegn invaders; insurgents that the media dubs as “protestors” is not in my view a viable alternative. Ask yourself if things are any better in Egypt and Libya since their regimes have toppled. While our government is engaging in this philanthropic venture and donating the tax payers money for the cynically labeled humanitarian aid; this very same government; according to Woodstock Sentinel.com is planning on cutting 19,200 jobs in the public sector and calling for austerity. Austerity for whom? The political caste with people like defense minister Peter McKay who wasted $1600 to be airlifted from a personal fishing trip or who spent $2,904 for a two night stay at the luxurious Bayerischer Hof in Munich last year. Ottawa spending $424 to have foriegn affairs minister John Baird buissiness cards emblassoned in gold. This hypocrisy makes me want to vommit. Then I read comments from people saying the government is too big and that it is better that they collect unemployment. What this person doesn’t grasp is that this always spills over into the private sector. It is elementary; the more people out of work the less they spend; the less they go to restaurants and support the local community.
This same sludgepump facet; the mainstream media is backing governmetns on their call to censore the internet. It is a matter of survival for them because they cannot compete with the traffic of alternative media. The Drudge Report has a much larger readership than the NewYork Times. Though alot of content on the internet is crap; their is still a wealth of facts and diluted knowledge out there if you take the time to find it. That scares the hell out of the gate keepers so they use the tyrants play book and call for censorship.
I am disappointed with Google. I thought YouTube was a public forum. I am finding they are taking alot of videos down from YouTube; some of them for expressing contraversial political views. A video was taken down recently from someones personal account for Satarizing Sociologist Proffessor Kari Norgard. She recently made the bold statements that Climate Change deniers ought to be declared insane; institutionhalized and likens them to rascists. Such pompous, arrogant and idiotic statements ought to me mocked. Same goes for other eco-fascists like Mourice Strong and Al Gore. I have a simple rule; any agenda backed by big buisiness in tandem with government is suspect. I implore those who are sincere in their concern about the environment to look at the track record of who is backing them; corporations like Monsanto the inventors of Agent Orange. It is getting harder and harder these days to distinguish between fact and fiction these days. I believe that the mainstream media is just as culpable; for turning a blind eye; for crimes against humanity as the people who perpetrate them.
