And Scot has a lot more planned, stay tuned Cambridge.

Yes, I’ll be glad when the election is over and I can fade back into the background and play with my widgets.

What is going on? The site looks totally different!

  4. scot October 23, 2010 at 5:37 pm

Lol, you caught me when I was testing. James and I have decided to take the site to the next level and do some major upgrades that will accomodate all of the wonderful widgets that we want to install to amuse and abuse the denizens of our wonderful village.
We feel that sites like this are definitely the wave of the future (or the present?) and our numbers are through the roof. Over 60,000 page views in the last month. (i haven’t even had to be an obnoxious shit disturber once lately. LOL, hey, it works!)
we have a vision that is shared with our readers, and we hope to the true voice of Cambridge.

Hmmm, that didn’t work. I’ll try it in the main post.

  6. scot October 23, 2010 at 6:12 pm

There. That worked. you’ll notice I’ve changed the post.
As everyone is aware, I’m doing the website rather than pay someone. (I’d hate to think)
A lot of what I’m doing Colin Carmichael taught me when he started The Reporter, and i’m re-learning (plus a whole lot of new stuff!) so be patient, and thanks to everyone for the encouragement.

NOW is not the time to make changes. AFTER the election is the best timing, me thinks.

  8. scot October 23, 2010 at 6:21 pm

The major changes are coming after the election, what you are seeing are only teasers. The only way I can test something, such as the polls, is to try it “live.”

Margaret, the site you probably saw is design template we bought today. It will be unveiled this week.

There. For example, i have just learned to put video into comments, and anyone can do it!
I have to get ready for work tonight, again, thanks for everyone’s patience. I’ll post instructions later.

The ‘Facebook’ skin was pretty nice, it was easy to get around the stories. Are you folks going to give that another try?

  16. Jimm Hillis October 24, 2010 at 11:58 pm

Scot is looking after those ideas, but I am thinking of having a meetup in November of the regulars here and getting ideas of where to take this thing. After all we are all Cambridge Citizens.

  17. scot October 26, 2010 at 1:09 pm

The Facebook skin didn’t give me enough flexibility to play. Everything may get a little crazy for the next few days, be patient with me.

  18. brett October 26, 2010 at 1:11 pm

  22. @bretthagey October 27, 2010 at 6:14 am

  23. Brett Hagey March 8, 2011 at 5:20 pm

  24. scot March 8, 2011 at 7:18 pm
