It’s time for another column but I forgot my topic. Oh well I’ll keep on typing and see what comes out.
Went to Zehrs today… on checking out the ever cheerful Miranda asked if I needed bags…damn, they’re in the car! double damn!!….funny but I can remember Brenda’s wedding anniversary which arrives sometimes every year but I can never remember to bring those useless cloth bags in from the car….then I stupidly drive off without the softener salt I bought….so back I went, to retrieve dopey salt. What does salt do anyway?
Guess what, I heard on TV last night that there’s a plan to melt down dogs for bio-fuel; I don’t buy it though ‘cause wouldn’t cats be a more logical choice to liquefy? After all what would you rather have in your tank, a mutt or a tiger?
Oh, and there’s no truth I’m running for dog-catcher; even though pal Bob is both panting and drooling to run my campaign.
Passed Tri-City furniture and saw pals ‘screwy Louie’ and Dave outside having a smoke…and wow…when owner Doug Tindall finds out they’ve been slacking off he’ll probably revoke their bathroom privileges…which is dangerous ‘cause they’re both older than Hula Hoops…meaning they can hold back on anything, except their bladders.
Are Matt Dusk and Michael Buble the same guy?
Oh, I went with pal David Courey to meet retired cleric George Sim at Cora’s. George is a brash 91 years young and maintains a schedule that would kill me. George’s blessing was rich in thanks for a healthy meal, thanks for a caring God and for friendships old and new.
Somehow George’s grace sounded like he was casually talking to the one who gave us that ‘light in our eyes’ (as Cheryl Crow sings)….wish I could talk to the big guy in such a familiar and powerful way.
To say the ‘ol rev’ is an optimist would be an understatement. To George the glass isn’t half full, it’s overflowing. If you ever have the privilege of meeting him, he will not only brighten your day but maybe the rest of your life. I hope the United Church realizes what a treasure they have in this man…and cherishes him
George dynamically regaled us with beautiful insights into the lives He so generously gave us while rendering both of us mute in the process…for the first time in out lives; he is remarkable!
Just last week he was seen at Cora’s with two women…where does he find the stamina for two when I can’t handle even one? I mean I get about as much action as Quasimodo, (who’s still locked up in a bell tower).
Hey, I wonder why I don’t see Bert Brown in the paper anymore…and as I’m writing this I chomped into an apple but bit my cheek instead…how does that happen anyway…how did my subconscious forget to bite the apple but allowed me to bite my cheek? It’s a mystery I suppose.
Was I going to write about our beautiful glass shrouded library? Oh now I remember! I was going to write about the endangered Tit-mouse and its’ shrinking habitat, maybe next time.
