Official Launch Party

We waited until the second issue to do an “Official Launch” as we wanted to be sure this boat would float and we weren’t launching the Titantic. As there is longer any doubt that we’re going to be continuing for the forseeable future, it’s time to celebrate! Come on out and meet all of the geniuses behind our insanity!

This Saturday, starting at 1 p.m.

Have a great time all y’all. Definitely time to celebrate how far The Citizen has come in such a short trip. Save me a few burritos and say Hola to Patricia por mi !

Just returned from the launch. It was a roaring success, except for my ego which was destroyed because tinfoil didn’t even recognize me. He was wandering around asking where I was; while I was sitting right in front of him. He is such a nutcase. To be fair, though, Scot and I have only actually met on one occasion; guess I’m not so unforgettable after all 🙁

The young local musicians who performed were outstanding. I’m fortunate to be exposed to a lot of young, and fine, musicians in our city (due to my son’s recording studio and his musical endeavours). But I never cease to be amazed at the yet undiscovered talent in our relatively small community. Another thing that never ceases to amaze me is how Councillors Tucci and Ermeta manage to be almost everywhere. They never miss an event (not even one for Scot, er, Tinfoil).

Allan D. came up with a great idea; one which we are actually going to follow through with. He wants an ‘asparagus’ night at the Newfoundland Club…BYOA (bring your own asparagus)…..a ‘pot luck’ of various dishes with asparagus as the main ingredient. Jimm won’t come, unless we throw in some brussel sprouts. I’m making a ‘special’ dish just for Mr. Hillis (whom I have only met on one other occasion, too. BUT he knew me when he saw me..not like that ‘arsehole’ tinfoil…anyway let’s not go there again.) Ben and I thought it would be a good idea to make it a benefit, probably for victims of cancer (since we have a mutual friend who is in Stage 4).

Anyway, congratulations to the Citizen and its staff. You are stirring up things, but good. I like you. I really really like you…

I’ve never even officially met you, yet I recognize you Margaret:)

Congratulations to the Cambridge Citizen, yesterday was a great success. I had a great time and thanks to all there to support the launch. I’m in for the asparagus pot luck. Margaret, our mutual friend is truly an inspiration. She’s
a trooper. Knowing her she’ll be there to help us enjoy the evening.

    Best regards to all, BEN

Thanks everyone. It was incredible! Margaret, abject apologies, you are so much larger than life in my mind. As I said at the launch, our next move is to work on making sure that this will work long term.
I just had my first day off in a year. It’s the first time I haven’t felt driven by a million things to do. Thank you, my friends, for making this happen.
For the people, by the people.

Great launch, Scot! You’ve done a heck of a job in a reasonably short space of time. Kudos! And what a treat it was to finally meet all those great people.

Jimm Hillis falls not one bit short of all the rave you give him. It was a real pleasure meeting him. And Margaret…. well… that just goes without saying. Who wouldn’t LOVE her?! I had so much fun with those two. I think you are very fortunate to have them in your life. I know I feel fortunate to have met them.

Having Ben and Nick there was also great! I so enjoyed chatting it up with them both. Chatting with Ben is always a pleasure.

And oh yeah… Ben and Marg… I told Mr. D. I’m definitely in for an asparagus night. hahaha (picturing Jimm Hillis surrounded by asparagus)

Thanks to all who came out. Huge kudos to all who contribute. Looking forward to a long, long run of the Cambridge Citizen.

Sue, Sue, Sue. I know you haven’t lived here a long time, so I understand how you may not know the rules of survival. One is NEVER supposed to say they like me, let alone LOVE me (but thanks, anyway….and it was GREAT to meet you too.)

  11. Margaret Barr February 6, 2012 at 11:18 am

P.S. Guess I should add that if one likes me, they are sure to accrue some enemies they didn’t even know they had (maybe nameless, faceless ones..but enemies nonetheless 🙂 SO be careful out there…

  12. Sue Taylor February 6, 2012 at 5:10 pm

hahahaha… Margaret…. If you knew me better, you would have no concerns about me whatsoever!!!! lol I think I can hold my own against enemies from without and within. And I really do love asparagus! hahahaha

Sorry I missed the party; I had a few things to take care. Congradulations and long live the Citizen.

  14. Jimm Hillis February 7, 2012 at 10:21 pm

I may not like Assparagas(the way i spell it), but i have consulted with a couple of Chef friends of mine and I will knock your socks off with my concoction. Never dare a Madman!!

  15. Facetious Lee February 10, 2012 at 5:48 am

I’m gonna eat so much asparagus, I’m gonna have to get the house fumigated.
Maybe I will make Asparagus and Kidney pie.
    Then again, maybe not.

  16. Lary Turner February 10, 2012 at 9:26 am

Old recipe for kidney pie ….
Take two good sized kidneys and boil the p*** out of them …… etc.
